A CropStart II system can be controlled by any Raven CAN console. In order to do this, the CropStart II stand-alone console and cabling will need to be replaced. This includes the console cable and the product cable. There are a couple of cabling options that will work to control this depending on the Raven console being used.
The standard issue CropStart II CAN product cable, part number 115-3001-128, includes a PWM boost box, part number 063-0173-320. It has a 37 pin connector and can be used with the following components:
SCS 4400/4600 using the standard console cable - common cables are part numbers 115-0171-299 (3') and 115-0171-300 (20')
Switch Pro using the standard 4400 console cable or the 4400 combo cable - common cables are part numbers 115-0172-007 and 115-0171-821
Gen II node to 37 pin product cable for single product nodes or product controller nodes - common cables are part numbers 115-0172-053 and 115-3001-082
The system can be controlled by any node that has PWM control and also controls the PWM valve on the high side (12 volts) including:
The Switch Pro controls the PWM signal on the high side.
The single product node controls the PWM signal on the high side.
The multi-product node has the ability to control the PWM signal on either the high side or the low side.
If using a Multi-Product Control Node (063-0173-236 or 063-0173-367), a Valve Cal of 9950 will need to be entered to switch the PWM control from the low side to the high side. A Valve Cal of 9910 will return the PWM control back to the low side. A valve Cal of 9888 can also be entered to switch the PWM control back to the low side but will reset the node to factory defaults and the node will need to be reprogrammed.
The Planter Auxiliary Control Node on an OmniRow/OmniSeed controls the PWM signal on the high side.
The planter auxiliary control node can only be used with the Envizio Pro series field computers.
The ISO product control node does not have the ability to control a CropStart II system due to the PWM output signal control on the low side.
Please refer to Public Knowledge Base article "Boost Box Information" for information on load ratings of current production nodes and boost boxes Raven offers.
The Gen II standard issue CropStart II cable, part number 115-3001-128, includes a PWM boost box, part number 063-0173-320. See attachment of cable drawing for details. This PWM boost box's load rating is 15 amps. The load rating of the pump being used is important if the installation requires a larger than standard pump. The standard pump load rating and specification is 18 amps at 70 PSI at a flow of 3 GPM, or 7 amps at 10 PSI at a flow of 5 GPM. Larger pumps are commonly used on larger row planters where 5.1 GPM is not sufficient enough to reach the volume needed.
If connecting to a Single Product Node, the 115-3001-128 cable will only support 2 sections. If connecting to an SCS 4400, Switch Pro, or Multi-Product Control Node, it will support 4 sections.
